About C.U.P.E. Local 410.
CUPE Local 410 represents the workers at the Greater Victoria Public Library, in Victoria B.C., Canada, except for exempt management staff. This includes librarians, clerks, pages, computer systems staff, office staff, drivers, graphic designer, and technical services staff in 9 locations. A substantial proportion of staff work on an auxiliary basis.
We are proud Library Workers, striving to provide excellent Public Library service throughout the Capital Regional Area on southern Vancouver Island.
Members of Local 410 were locked out by the Library Board on February 18, 2008 and remained off the job for six weeks due to a labour dispute. Following settlement of the dispute and the ratification of a new collective agreement, we returned to work beginning April 3 and re-opened all branches on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
